Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Pharmacy, CGC, Landran organized a free medical check up camp at Gurudawara Sahib, Sante Majra village, Mohali on 28.09.2018 in collaboration with FORTIS Health-care Mohali. Dr. Asees Paul Singh, Cardiologist and Dr. Ranjeeta Intenal Medicine, Mr. Ankush Kumar, Medical Administrator with their staff conducted the free check up. The motive of the camp was to generate awareness among people about various life style diseases and heart diseases & its prevention. In the camp various free services were provided like blood pressure check up, ECG and Blood sugar. Besides this free screening and consultation was done by the specialists from FORTIS Healthcare.
The camp received a huge response and more than 100 patients from Sante Majra village were examined by the expert’s during the camp. The students also conducted a health survey in Sante Majra village. A rally was also conducted by the students of Biotechnology, CGC Landran through several streets and roads of Sante Majra village to raise awareness among general public regarding the major causes of heart diseases & anti-drugs like smoking, alcohol intake, tobacco consumption, lack of excercise etc. These bad habits could lead to serious problems which can be minimised by maintaining a healthy diet, quitting bad habits along with regular exercise & health check up once in a year for early detection of disease so that timely management can be done at minimal damage.
Under the guidance of Dr. Arockia Babu, Director Principal, CCP & Dr. Shalini Verma, HOD, Biotechnology Department the camp was organised. Ms Nidhi& Mr Vikas Menon were the chief coordinator of the medical camp. Ms Shelly was the faculty coordinators of the rally. The students and staff of CGC Landran showed great enthusiasm in generating awareness about lifestyle associated diseases and anti-drugs among the people
